What makes a good contact form
- Few fields: ask only for what you need to reply, such as name, email and message. Every extra field lowers the number of submissions.
- Clear labels and helpful errors: say what went wrong and how to fix it.
- Mobile-friendly: large fields, the right keyboard for each field, and autofill.
- A clear button: “Send my question” or “Get my free quote” rather than “Submit”.
- Reassurance: say when you will reply and how you handle personal data.
- A confirmation: a thank-you page or message that confirms the message arrived and says what happens next.
Spam protection
Protect forms with tools such as reCAPTCHA, Cloudflare Turnstile or a hidden honeypot field, rather than puzzles that frustrate real visitors.
Tracking and privacy
Track form submissions as conversions in Google Analytics and your ad platforms, so you know which channels bring enquiries. Only collect the personal data you need, explain how you use it in your privacy policy, and in the EU follow the GDPR.
