Sitelink

Sitelinks are extra links to pages on the same website that Google shows below a search result, usually when someone searches for a brand name. A search for a company may show its home page with links to Contact, Services and Pricing underneath.

Google adds organic sitelinks automatically when it thinks they will help searchers. You can’t choose them, but you can make them more likely:

  • Use a clear site structure and navigation.
  • Give pages descriptive, unique titles and headings.
  • Link internally to your key pages with clear anchor text.

To stop a page from appearing as a sitelink, you have to keep it out of search altogether, for example with noindex.

In Google Ads, sitelinks are an asset (formerly called an extension) that you add yourself: extra links under your ad that take people to specific pages, such as a price list or a booking page. They make the ad bigger and usually raise its click-through rate.
